Learn About MVYC and Volunteerism
The Volunteers or Adventurers’ activities at the orphanages depend both on the needs of the individual orphanage and the skills and interests of the Volunteers or Adventurers themselves.

Volunteers or Adventurers will work in orphanages, community centers, daycare centers, schools and kindergartens. Work varies, but generally consists of providing individual attention, sharing affection with children, playing with children, organizing games and activities, educating children regarding personal hygiene, and assisting with home work.

Help Us Recruit MVYC Volunteers

MVYC V recruits volunteers on an ongoing basis, so we are continually seeking avenues for reaching out to young university graduates.  Please alert us to any opportunities to meet with potential volunteers.

The cost of training, supervising and supporting one volunteer for a year of service is $3,000.  Please contact us to arrange for your contribution within Cambodia.    

Sponsor a Volunteer

Sponsoring a volunteer for $3,000 gives you a closer connection to the volunteer experience.  If you sponsor a volunteer, your volunteer will write to you from time to time, updating you on progress in the village and in the volunteer’s personal development.  This will help you see how your contribution makes a difference – when a volunteer helps a poor family increase its rice yield, or engages gang members in community activities or starts a community library.

What we do

Background

The Morning Volunteer of Youth Cambodia (MVYC) as established in 2011 by Ms. Um Dina  and Ms Yim Somaly .

MVYC is a non political, non religious, non government organization. We provide education, vocational training and support to the poorest communities in Cambodia, with a focus on girls, orphans and street children. Many of these families are living with HIV/AIDs or other serious health issues and are the very poorest communities in Cambodia.

MVYC has outreach centers at the city dump site, in the slum areas of Phnom Penh and on the outskirts of the city where the people from the slums are being relocated as the city is redeveloped. We also run vocational training for girls in dressmaking, cookery, and beauty and hairdressing at our training center in Phnom Penh.

Through education and training, we aim to equip the children and young people to access regular jobs and become self supporting, improving their quality of life and that of their families.
